Notes - Note:
"In May of 1799 William Bridgman and his family left St. John, New Brunswick heading for Upper Canada (Ontario). They arrived in Niagara in July of the same year and settled on Lot 5 (or 15), Concession 8, (now the "Twenty Road") Grimsby Township, Lincoln County. From 1803-1833 William served as a member of the Grimsby township council. William served with the 4th Lincoln Regiment in the war of 1812. His specific days of service were April 29, 1813 to May 24, 1813. He was under the command of Captain William Nelles. He also served along with his brother Thomas from July 4, 1814 to July 28, 1814 in the same regiment, but under the command of Captain Johnathan A. Pettit." Ryk Brown

"William Bridgman, their eldest son, was born 16 May, 1768. He married MaryBelyea 11 Oct. 1790. Nine years later in May, 1799 William, his wife Mary, several children and his youngest brother, Thomas, left St. John, New Brunswick, arriving at Niagara in July of that year. Other members of the family may have come with them but they are not recorded in the annals of this district. William settled on Lot 15, Conc. VIII, Grimsby township, on The Twenty near Smithville. He was first a member of the township council in 1803 and thereafter until 1833. He served with the 4th Lincoln Regt. in the War of 1812 - 14. He died in 1841 and Mary, his wife, in 1854. They were buried in the Smithville Methodist Churchyard with simple white stones marking their graves -- William Bridgman Sr., 1769 - 1841. Mary, wife of William Bridgman, 1772 - 1854."
